Midwest Texans, based at Huntington
Municipal Airport (KHHG), in Huntington,
Indiana, near Fort Wayne, Indiana. Midwest
Texans is the successor company of Paul
Redlich’s Stars and Bars Aircraft. Stars and
Bars gained an international reputation for
its expertise in restoring and maintaining
the North American T-6/SNJ “Texan” and
Harvard series of aircraft. In March 2004
Redlich left the business to pursue a
position with the newly formed Tri-State
Warbird Museum. Paul’s lead mechanic, Eric
Scher, purchased the company and renamed it
Midwest Texans. In January 2006, Historic
Aeroplane Works acquired the company with
the goal of expanding its line of services.
Midwest Texans continues to specialize in
the North American Texan/Harvard series, but
has also begun to provide services to other
warbird types such as the Consolidated-Vultee
BT-13, North American T-28 “Trojan” and
Boeing Stearman.
